Museum of Science Vaccination Event

We’re thrilled to announce a new VaxAbilities COVID vaccination event at the Museum of Science for people with disabilities or sensory support needs.  COVID vaccines and boosters are available to people ages 5 years and older on Friday December 17 from 1:30pm – 8:00pm.  These events have additional clinical supports and strategies to support people to get their vaccination as comfortably as possible. MOVIA Robotics, a robotics company, focusing on creating tech-forward solutions for children with autism, has announced the launch of TheraPal Home and TheraPal Clinical Assist Aides.

These new products come in the form of two robotic-assisted interventions that aim to help autistic children’s social and emotional development.TheraPal Home and TheraPal Clinical Assist Aides allow children access to a range of modules for cognitive training, communication practice, and educational learning. In addition, the robotic assistants collect data regarding the child’s progress, providing parents and clinicians with more insight into their strengths and weaknesses.“By using robots that engage and interact with kids, we can get kids with autism to respond more readily. Robots seem friendlier, less judgmental than human beings; they seem safer, so the children are able to explore more, develop their confidence and have more control all while learning skills to help them be successful in their daily lives,” said Timothy Gifford, founder of Movia.

Join us for our final activity of 2021 - a festive celebration of the holidays! An event for all ages, attendees will have the opportunity to experience the holidays and develop new skills through Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year’s, and winter-themed arts & crafts, music, and games. The entry fee is $5, which helps to cover the cost of supplies and materials.
