Guest Speaker: Cathy Boyle "Housing 101" Wednesday March 24th 6:30-7:30 p.m. In this FREE virtual workshop, Cathy Boyle from Autism Housing Pathways will introduce families to the range of public funds available to pay for housing and supportive services (including for those without DDS supports). Some examples are given of how these can be combined with private funds to create housing. ![]()
Guest Speaker: Marcus Herglund Solution Focused Parenting Monday March 29th 6:30-8:30 p.m. This month’s Portuguese Speaking Group will include guest speaker Marcus Herglund, MCFT. He will be speaking about a solution focused approach to parenting in the special needs world. He has extensive personal knowledge of autism as well as much professional experience and studies in family therapy. ![]()
Guest Speaker: Dr. Mark Viron Covid-19 Vaccine Informational Family Forum Wednesday March 31st 6:30-7:30 p.m. Families are invited to attend the Covid-19 information forum with Dr. Mark Viron, Advocates Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Viron will provide updated vaccine related information and answer questions families with special needs loved ones have about the vaccine. ![]()
Guest Speaker: Cathy Boyle Applying for Housing for people with disabilities in MA Wednesday April 14th 6:30-7:30 p.m. This FREE workshop, presented by Cathy Boyle of Autism Housing Pathways, will walk families through the range of affordable and subsidized housing options available to people with disabilities in Massachusetts. A strategy for completing a basic set of applications & tracking them over time is presented. ![]()
Guest Speaker: Nayara Caroline Barbosa Abreu, SLP Monday April 26th 6:30-8:30 p.m. This month’s Portuguese Speaking Group will include guest speaker Nayara Caroline Barbosa Abreu, SLP from Brazil. April is part two of a two-part series, the first was in February 2021. Her presentation will include a step-by-step introduction to language development. She will also discuss the milestones of language, and where the child is within those milestones, and what the next steps may be. ![]()
Guest Speaker: Alex Nadworney Planning for Two Generations Wednesday May 12th 6:30-7:30 p.m. Please join us as we welcome Alex Nadworney of Special Needs Financial Planning, a specialty practice to Affinia Financial Group. Planning for Two Generations centers upon their Special Needs Planning Timeline™. The timeline highlights the various planning pressure points where parents should be aware of changes relating to their child's benefits, legal and financial issues. Beth Gutierrez LICSW, Program Director for the Advocates AFC Program, will walk us through eligibility requirements and what this program could provide for your family.
